Physician members are receiving many new services with the redesign of the KAM website!!  We want to provide our members more value for their membership dollars---

Legislative Activities:  
In conjunction with the American Medical Association and the Tennessee Medical Association KAM provides the latest information to its membership from state and national assemblies dealing with laws affecting the practice of medicine.  For several years KAM has chartered a bus to promote Doctor on the Hill Day for physicians to travel to Nashville.  This program is now called PITCH (Physicians Involved on Tennessee’s Capitol Hill) and is organized with physicians across the state under the TMA, to enable physician presence on the Hill every Tuesday the legislature is in session.  This information is transmitted by blast email and fax for up to date information and a call to action.

Physician Search and Referrals:
The Academy staff fields many calls from the community seeking their medical records or information on a physician in a particular specialty, skilled in a special procedure, or looking for a physician who may have moved, or for a physician close to their home.

Grievance/Mediation:
The KAM Grievance Committee helps mediate patient issues with their physician to avoid legal action and promote goodwill among the community.  KAM staff fields calls from the public regarding patient complaints on Knox County physicians.

KAM Publications:
The Bulletin is the official publication of KAM.  Academy members receive free, the Bulletin which is published bi-monthly.  The Bulletin is distributed to physician members (mailed to practice & home—for spouses to read), hospital administrators, hospital medical staff & media personnel, practice managers, and other medical professionals. Members also receive one free copy of the annual pictorial Physicians Membership Directory. 

Special Events:
KAM sponsors many special events throughout the year to promote networking and camaraderie among the membership such as the Annual Meeting/Gala which provides an evening of great entertainment, dancing, inauguration of new president, and fine dining with the proceeds going to the KAM Foundation or KAPA program.  Past events have been the KAM Foundation’s Charity Golf Tournament, Doctor Appreciation Banquet and family events like picnics, Fall Festival at the Corn Maze, and Medical Marriage Seminars.  KAM also participates every year in New Resident’s Day at UT Medical Center to encourage new UT residents and offers them a free KAM and TMA membership during their medical training program.

Speakers Bureau:
Physician members may volunteer to participate in the KAM Speakers Bureau to speak to groups such as civic organizations, businesses, or medical gatherings as well as on television and radio spots as the need arises.  The easy online form provided gives available KAM physicians the access to offer their expertise free and speak on many health topics as their schedule allows.

Medical Staffing Service:
The KAM Placement Service (KAMPS) provides skilled medical personnel for Knoxville and the surrounding counties and KAM physician members receive a discounted rate.  KAMPS provides both temporary and permanent placement for members and non-member physicians.  All employees go through a computerized testing program, interview, reference checks, including background and criminal checks.

Label Service:
KAM offers a label rental service to members at a discount and to approved businesses to purchase labels for mailing of new doctor announcements, special medical event notifications, and other information.

Education Programs:
KAM offers OSHA Training seminars in the Spring and Fall and also holds periodic educational seminars for physicians and the community.

The Physician Finder for KAM members is available via the KAM website for those seeking information on physicians and gives patients and colleague’s vital information to find you.  Your profile contains information provided by you and may include:

• Photo (provided by physician)

• Office address links directly to a map of your location

• Medical school graduation information
• Hospital affiliations & affiliation types—active/associate/courtesy/provisional
• Board certifications
• Languages spoken
• Special procedures

Medical Classified Advertising:
The Knoxville Academy of Medicine is now offering its members FREE web medical-related classified advertising.  Medical related ads run online for thirty days unless you notify KAM to remove the ad early.
